This paper presents the downlink capacity analysis of integrated voice and data traffic and soft handoff overhead in the 3GPP WCDMA system. The study incorporates traffic channel power allocation, soft handoff, slow power control or fast power control, voice activity factor and data traffic activity factor. The results include the system capacity in users per cell, the effects of the power control and soft handoff overhead.
