To investigate the sensitivity of the reflection coefficient of the human thorax to the displacement of the individual intrathoracic layers we implemented an analytical model. This analytical model closely approximates the stratified arrangement of the thorax and accounts for the dispersive behaviour of the dielectric properties of the different biological tissues in a broad frequency range by utilizing the four dispersion Cole-Cole model. To model a biomedical channel sounding process, this model is incorporated into an UWB transmit/receive path.
