This paper describes a semi-analytical approach, with no discretization, for gain spectrum calculations in multi-quantum-well structures, based on the Galerkin method. After a brief presentation of the physical model and development of our method, we show with some examples that this method is superior to the discretized finite-element method in terms of computation time
