In the analog baseband circuit of a direct conversion receiver especially for W-CDMA, large glitch noises, that would degrade receiving performance, could occur when the baseband gain rapidly and dynamically changes. This paper shows the mechanism of glitch noise occurrences, maximum allowable value for glitch noise and proposes a set of gain control methods to suppress them.
