An analogue memory cell based on a local selfrefreshing technique is presented. The circuit is suitable for long-term storage of synaptic weights in analogue VLSI implementations of neural networks. The cell refreshes the voltage on a capacitor in a multilevel fashion by automatic comparison and confirmation with a range of discrete levels locally reproduced from an external reference signal.
