This paper discusses a modulation level selection method in software-based wireless multimedia communications system which employs adaptive modulation scheme. We propose a modulation level selection algorithm taking account of QoS (quality of service) for each service, and evaluate the performance by computer simulation. Our simulation results show that the proposed algorithm, which can reduce not only the number of required time slots but also the interference power for other users, improves the average delay performance as compared with the conventional one which only attempts to select higher modulation level with higher priority and to reduce only the number of required time slots
