There is no doubt the amount of data generated by NASA's terra spacecraft is impressive, at about a terabyte per day, it is billed as the largest-ever civilian computational science undertaking. While the investigators say advances in hardware and theoretical knowledge have combined to allow for such leaps, the real secret to terra's success will lie in how the scientific community reacts to the data
