A simple but effective base station (BS) placement strategy for use in interference limited code division multiple access (CDMA) systems is proposed. Unlike more commonly applied combinatorial optimisation techniques, the proposed strategy uses linear programming. Since the algorithm is deterministic, an optimal solution is guaranteed. It is shown that this strategy could have application in solving `real world' problems
