Using general-purpose platforms and software modules instead of application specific hardware to construct communication systems is really reasonable due to the flexibility such a system enjoys. By employing a distributed computing protocol used to control communication traffic and computation, the cluster of computers interconnected by Ethernet has the ability to handle real time data stream that should be processed in modulation and demodulation. Using message-passing mechanism, we constructed a high-performance protocol ideal for software radio. A task distributing mechanism for parallel computing, which is based on a data dictionary is designed as a part of the protocol. As the precondition of distributed computing, decoupling of the data stream is also discussed
