Calculating the J/sub c/, B, T surface for niobium titanium using a reduced-state model

A method is presented for calculating the J/sub c/, B, T surface for commercial niobium titanium superconductor given T/sub c/, B/sub c2/ and J/sub c/ over a range B at a given temperature. The J/sub c/ calculated as a function of B and T agrees with measured values of J/sub c/ quite well over a range of T from 1.5 K to 7 K and a range of B from 0.1 T to 10 T. The values of J/sub c/ given by this theory are good enough to be used to calculate the performance of superconducting magnets at temperatures other than 4.2 K, and the theory can be used to predict the magnetization effects of superconductors over a wide range of temperatures and inductions.<
