A Ka-band land mobile satellite (LMS) channel model which is able to take into account weather impairments is proposed. The statistics of the received signal and the BER performance of the system under the proposed channel model are obtained and compared with the results generated using Loo's weather-affected LMS channel model. The proposed Ka-band (20/30 GHz) LMS channel model is shown to be more reasonable as it gives realistic results.
