In this paper, the quantitative speed control for a switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive is studied. First, the drive circuit with proper current control for the SRM is implemented, and the dynamic model is estimated. Then a simple two-degrees-of-freedom (2-DOF) speed controller is presented. According to the estimated dynamic model and the prescribed speed tracking and regulation control specifications, the parameters of the proposed 2-DOF speed controller are systematically derived
