Most receiver designs for asynchronous DS-CDMA systems exploit timing information to simultaneously detect the desired signal and suppress the multiple access interference (MAI). An ESPRIT delay estimation algorithm is proposed which required no initial information and no exhaustive search of the delays, the proposed estimators can thus be used for both acquisition and tracking. The estimate results have been compared to a previously derived approximation and simulation data. The new approach appears to provide improved accuracy
