This article presents link level simulation results for the FDD component of UMTS, based on the W-CDMA access technique. Simulation results are given for different service classes: 8 kb/s voice, 144 kb/s circuit-switched data (LDD), and 480 kb/s packet-switched data (UDD). The performance is given in terms of the bit error rate and block erasure rate. Results are provided as a function of the Eb/N 0 ratio and the mobile speed in four different propagation channels defined by the ETSI and ITU-R
