The paper demonstrates how the use of tentative decisions can improve the carrier recovery over a satellite link under severe conditions with a C/N that can quickly decrease under 3 dB when using a turbo-code. We demonstrate how we overcome the synchronisation errors, especially carrier phase errors in the tracking mode for transmission in a continuous mode. We present simulation results such as improvements on the S-curve of a phase detector, reduction of the cycle slip rate and the global system performance
