Pulsed mode operation of an optical frequency synthesiser design based on frequency translating optical feedback is demonstrated. It is shown that 35 different frequency tone bursts can be generated within a 7 dB envelope response. The potential for use in frequency referencing and wavelength processing applications is discussed.
