Long-term charging test for 500 kV GIS

This paper describes the long-term charging test performed before a 500 kV gas-insulated substation (GIS) runs in an electrical system, and some results are presented. It contains the results of measuring tests for partial discharge, very fast transient overvoltage (VFTO) when a disconnector operates and the leakage current of metal oxide arresters.
