Wang's (1997) modified MOBAS has a similar modular distributed structure to Chao's multicast output buffered ATM switch (MOBAS). The reduction of switch size and the fault tolerance are important issues in designing an ATM switch for reliable satellite communications. In this paper we propose a new ATM switch architecture by slightly changing Wang's modified MOBAS. The proposed switch has an easy fault reconfiguration scheme with graceful performance degradation like Chao's MOBAS and employs fewer switch elements than the MOBAS
