Integrative modeling of cardiac arrhythmia: relating gene expression to cell and tissue function

The development and analysis of biophysically and anatomically detailed computational models of physiological systems is beginning to provide an important tool for relating changes in gene expression to changes in biological function at the levels of cell and tissue in both health and disease. The authors illustrate this approach using computational models of the failing heart developed recently within their laboratory.
