An approach used to compute the frequency-dependent equivalent capacitance of a coaxial open-end radiating into a circular waveguide below the cutoff frequency is outlined. Formulas approximating the obtained numerical results are given. These permit direct evaluation of the considered discontinuity with an average error not exceeding 2% in the characteristic impedance range 30-70 Ω and 5% for the remaining characteristic impedance values in the range 10-100 Ω
