This work deals with the performance evaluation of a two-layer hierarchical cellular network. Lower coverage is achieved by microcells that accommodate both new and handover requests, and can handle all types of multimedia traffic (voice, video, data). Macrocells, which are overlaid over the microcells, can also accommodate both new and handover requests but have limited application-handling capabilities (reduced quality video).
