Very good group delay performance is reported from a chirped fibre grating delay line when optical single sideband optical modulation is used. The residual dispersion in the photodetected current introduced by this technique is compensated for by means of a microstrip line length, and an RMS group delay deviation of 2.2 ps is achieved
