A novel method for the support of real time VBR traffic over satellite links is proposed. It is based on the prediction of traffic using exponential weighted moving average (EWMA) techniques. Computer simulations show that the proposed method achieves better utilisation of resources in both the ground and space segments, while requiring minimal computational complexity
