A polarisation-independent, push-pull InP Mach-Zehnder modulator for 40 Gbit/s all-optical regeneration has been implemented in a loop transmission scheme. Error-free regenerated transmission over >20000 km was obtained. Wavelength independence and immunity to crosstalk were also measured, showing the potential for WDM transmission applications
