The authors propose in this paper the modelling and computing of a linear eddy current braking system by the finite element method. This braking system will be used in a high speed train. They study this device in 2D and 3D taking into account nonlinearities such as saturation and the displacement of the train. The authors present many results detailing the induction, the eddy currents in the rail and the braking force versus train speed
