Evolution towards flexible multiservice networks

There are a number of trends in today's telecommunications environment that give an insight into the requirementsfor future networks. This paper tries to identify these requirements together with a suitable target network It then discusses some of the factors that need so be taken into account when developing any evolution strategy and describes one possible strategy that has two separate evolution threads from the existing networks towards Me target network.
