Historical perspective of the development of echocardiography and myocardial ultrasound

In this paper, two kinds of ultrasonic methods, which have been developed in the authors' laboratory, are discussed. The first is the application of ultrasound to measurement of the cardiac structure. The second is the application of ultrasound to the measurement of cardiac function.
