Control units for power factor rectifiers based on continuous-mode boost converters usually require a large amount of calculation power. This makes digital control solutions expensive at present. This contribution deals with the theory, the design, and the dynamic behavior of a control unit that uses the stored-duty-ratio (SDR) control method. It can be realized as a combined digital/analog control unit even without digital calculation power and makes digital control with all its advantages available at low prices nowadays
