The characteristics of acoustic waves propagating in thin plates of single crystal potassium niobate (KNbO3) have been theoretically investigated. It is found that acoustic plate wave modes can provide much stronger electromechanical coupling (ΔV/V=0.51) than is possible with surface acoustic waves (ΔV/V=0.265)
