This paper considers robust multivariable control of a compact disc mechanism using digital signal processors. The design problem is to achieve good track-following and focusing performance in the presence of disturbances and norm-bounded structured plant uncertainty. This robust performance problem has been solved in the μ-framework using the D-K-iteration scheme. After controller order reduction, the μ-based controller has been implemented using two parallel digital signal processors.
