The paper presents some possible arrangements of electronic converters oriented to the on board regulation of batteries' charge in small vehicles motorised by linear induction machines. The convenience is shown of adopting an on board wound secondary translator and a long stator motor with the aim of traction and contact-less charging system, during the steering operations. Furthermore, the modification of translator current by proper electronic converters allows a speed regulation too according the mechanical characteristic of thrust in different conditions of batteries' charge. For the different analysed arrangements the mechanical characteristics are compared and discussed in order to obtain suitable suggestions for the choice of traction drive
