In order to solve slow convergence speed, premature convergence and large population and individual number of genetic algorithms, this paper proposes a fast synthetic genetic algorithm, and applies the algorithm to optimal control of reactive power flow. The effectiveness of the algorithm is verified by simulating the IEEE-30 bus system and a test electric power system and comparing with the optimal load flow method and simple genetic algorithm, the results demonstrate that the algorithm is more effective
