Worst Case analysis for a Precision Clock and Crystal Oscillator Using l/sup 1/ Techniques

An analysis of worst case estimation errors in a Kalman filter used maintain a precision clock and crystal oscillator is presented using l/sup 1/ peak gain techniques. L/sup 1/ peak gain techniques are suited to providing worst cast nits on outputs for bounded inputs. For a satellite payload, a ground based estimation and control algorithm was developed to maintain precision and frequency references. The time and frequency errors were known to be sensitive to temperature and it was desired to obtain bounds on the Kalman filter estimation errors for bounded thermal input errors. The l/sup 1/ analysis that was performed to answer these questions is presented here.
