Abu Simbel radio telescope project in the Upper Egypt

Discusses building a radio telescope at Abu Simbel in the south of Egypt, for solar and stellar observations on wavelengths ranging between microwave and millimeter wave. Abu Simbel is one of the best sites in North Africa for optical and radio observations; it is a dry desert with excellent atmospheric opacity. The telescope is discussed in relation to VLBI studies.
