Third generation mobile systems planning issues

The achievements of the STORMS (Software Tools for Optimization of Resources in Mobile Systems) project are introduced. A global view of a planning and optimization tool fitted to third generation systems requirements and to the operators' expectations is presented. Capacity oriented radio optimization, CDMA planning strategies, smart antennas planning issues, access network and LA/PA optimization are addressed in further detail.
