Summary form only given. We report the first results of SHG in short-period, periodically poled KTiOPO/sub 4/ (KTP) for efficiently generating blue light using subpicosecond laser pulses. The hydrothermally grown KTP substrate was poled by applying several 2.1 kV pulses of 400 ps duration with the poling period of 4.0 /spl mu/m Channel waveguides (perpendicular to the domain-inverted grating) with the width of 4 /spl mu/m were fabricated on the +z face by the standard ion-exchange process in a melt.
