The osteogenic potential of the human bone marrow is lately evaluated by in vitro cultures of stem cells. Biological or biochemical methods of characterization which are usually employed only provide qualitative analysis and have the drawback of degrading the samples. A new 50 MHz high frequency acoustical echographic system has been designed in order to characterize these cultures. It has the main advantage to preserve sterility required for cell development
