Practical considerations in the design of lithium-ion battery protection systems

This paper presents the practical issues encountered in designing a lithium-ion battery protection circuit, including the effects of system loads and parasitic elements. It also discusses the characteristics of lithium-ion batteries and the need for such protection circuits. A fully integrated solution, using a new single cell protector IC is described.
