Digital Image Scrambling Technology was the usual method for the Digital Image Encryption, Information Hiding, and Digital Watermarking. And how to evaluate the scrambling degree was a hot subject in recent years. According to the principle that the gray-scale spatial area of the digital image would vary with the changes of the pixel points' positions after the scrambling, an evaluation method of image scrambling degree based on the area of the image is proposed. The experimental results indicated that the proposed method can reflect the relations between the scrambling times and the scrambling degree well, which was basically consistent with the vision of the human.
