This paper contributes to the problem description of managing power and energy of multiple energy sources for electric vehicle power system architectures. The vehicle dynamic model is developed in lab-view considering the inertial effect of different rotating component. And the real time speed vs time data is collected on the different Indian roads. Using this drive cycle and the dynamic model the power required to propel the vehicle is calculated. In this paper, how to meet this power demand from the dual source (i.e ICE and the storage unit battery, ultracapacitor) hybrid electric vehicle to propelled the vehicle is focus depending upon the type of drive cycle. This algorithm is simulated in Lab-view for the different measured Indian drive cycle to see the effected on the state of charge of the energy storage unit i.e battery pack and ultracapacitor. The results indicate that the split of power can allow the engine to operate at its best efficiency and the life of battery can also be improved significantly with the introduction of ultracapacitor and by maintaining the battery state of charge (SOC) within desired limits.
