Wireless ATM has received considerable interest in the commercial mobile communications area. We address several issues related to wireless integrated services networks with emphasis on the military environment. Several design issues related to the employment of a (single) macrocell integrated services network in the tactical military environment are discussed. A protocol architecture for integrated services mobile networks to meet the tactical needs is described, taking into consideration low bit-rate services, admission control issues, and user priorities
