This paper will report on the synthesization of varieties of nanostructured carbon nanotubes such as bundles of vertically alligned CNTs (VACNTs), spaghetti-like CNTs and spiral-like structure of CNTs (SCNTs) which are potentially useful in various application. Multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were produced from palm oil precursor and ferrocene as catalyst source by this method at various deposition temperature ranging from 650-950°C with an increment of 50°C. Direct heat was used to vaporize both fixed parameter of precursor and catalyst placed in the middle of quartz tube. Field emission scanning electron microscopy was used to obtain the image of CNTs which showed different structures and diameters of CNTs relative to the deposition temperature of furnace. Raman Spectroscopy and Thermogravimetric analysis was also used to determine the purity of samples.
