A review of developments during 1984 show that robots, vision systems, smart sensors, adaptive controls, and an automation protocol have accelerated integrated manufacturing. Computers are assuming key importance in robotics, and manufacturing industries and are using new vibration and acoustic sensors tied to computers, as well.
