There is a design engineer in every one of us. Sand castles, Tinker Toys, and Erector sets were the media for our first creations. In time, electronic hobby kits added to the fascination. We began building the projects described in the pamphlets, until we were no longer satisfied with copying someone else's design. After a few failures, often spectacular, the day finally came when the lights flashed, the buzzer squawked, and the fuse didn't blow!
