A new synthetic test circuit is presented to test 765 kV, 63 kA, 50 Hz circuit-breakers. The new synthetic test circuit consists of a combination of a current injection circuit and a voltage injection circuit. This configuration is especially appropriate for the interrupting testing of ultra-high-voltage circuit breakers. After the description of the new circuit and its operation, the test circuit parameter combination and the calculated results are studied in this paper. The new synthetic test circuit can be used for voltage ratings up to 1100 kV
