The work presented in this paper describes a generation rescheduling scheme for dynamic security enhancement of single and multi-area electric power system. Existing work done in the dynamic security enhancement has been for single area power systems. A multi-area scheme has not been considered in available literature. In this work a heuristic enhancement scheme is developed for multi-area power system. The scheme consists of parts: dynamic security assessment (DSA) using the transient energy function method, sensitivity analysis and controls ranking, and control coordination among the areas. The transient energy margin sensitivity with respect to change in control parameters is used as a guide to select control while the relationship between change in tie-line flow and change in generation is used to determine level of change in generation. In this paper, the proposed scheme is outlined and illustrated via sample test results
