In my previous column I encouraged your participation in the Society, and I mentioned that the benefits of such activity were professional growth and recognition. In this column I would like to pay tribute to some of our colleagues for their distingished technical contributions and service to our Society. First let me congratulate Professor Van Valkenburg. Mac was awarded ASEE's highest honor, the Lamme Award for his excellence in teaching and contibutions to the art of teaching, to research and technical literature, to the advancement of the profession, and to engineering college administration. I am also very proud to announce that Steve Director and Gary Hachtel received the prestigious Baker Award for the most outstanding paper published in all the IEEE Transactions and Journals. Their paper appeared in the July 1977 issue of the Circuits and Systems Transactions.
