Mass Storage is a new research hotspot of Information Technology fields. In this paper, we carry out research in a high performance computing centre, whose mass storage system was expanded and reconstructed. We introduce the key technology of storage system, and make discuss of the using method and management method in heterogeneous mass storage system. We've focused on analyzing and introducing the space management, data migration, hierarchical storage and quota administration in a mass storage system. On that basis, we construct a mass storage system of a high performance computing centre.
