A film composed of CdS quantum dot deposited on vertical aligned carbon nanotube (v-CNT) is fabricated by the electrodeposition method. The quantum dot sensitized solar cell (QDSSC) based on v-CNT/CdS has the photoresponse due to the photogenerated electrons can transfer from CdS QDs to v-CNT. A photocurrent density of ~0.6 mA/cm2 and an open voltage of 0.57 V has been achieved for this novel photovoltaic cell based on VACNT/CdS nanocomposite.
