We have described energy management in phased array radars that can vary the transmitted energy according to different tasks such as long range search and shorter range track updates and tracking. The idea is to adapt the transmitted energy on tracked targets depending on target range using parallel beams on both transmit and receive. Digital beamforming allows this type of adaptive multiple-beam radar tracking to reduce the tracking time load and to share the transmitted energy between tracked targets. Models, conditions and methods for energy management in multiple-beam phased array radars are investigated
